Riser Protection Net Replacement, Norway

The Riser Protection Net (RPN) prevent vessel collision with the production risers. The old net at a TLP platform had reached the design life and was damaged.

Project details

  • New design of anchors and tensioning system
  • Design of several tooling for replacing damaged suspension points in the splash zone.
  • Full scale testing at Dora Subsea Test Center.
  • Complex rigging operations. 
  • Vertical Access Tool used for underwater operations.
  • New RPN dimension of 12 x 114 meters. Installed at 6 meters above surface to 6 meters below surface. 
  • No use of divers, ROV or support vessels.
